I've enjoyed to read the chapter dedicated to finance in the book "Dynamic Mode Decomposition Data-Driven Modelling of Complex Systems", but I'm still a bit confused about the methods implemented, since it seems to me that some keys steps are missing in that chapter, together with lack of code makes a bit hard to understand the idea behind the application The book was launched in 2016, I believe better technics were discovered meanwhile A dedicated chapter or even a full book on finance, showing how all these data driven technics for non linear and complex systems can be applied to different fields of finance (like data cleaning, dimension reduction, factors analysis, model discovery, data fitting, back testing, monte carlo simulation, portfolio construction, etc) would be great For all the technics it should come with Jupyter notebook examples using WIDGETS and charts, allowing the student to vary key parameters in order to accelerate the learning and understanding on the technics search on google for "Exploring the Lorenz System of Differential Equations using Jupyter Widgets" to see what I mean, in that example is possible to the user modify key parameters in the Lorentz equations in order to understand it Comment from : Daniel Santos |

Dear Steve, thank you for the book and all the videos I am currently reading through itbrHowever, I wanted to ask you regarding Applied Mathematics Which book/books would you recommend for a deeper dive into this field as a reference and self study? I am asking you since, you also have courses regarding applied engineering mathematics There you mention you are lookin for a better alternative besides Kreyszig bookbrAs I understand in your courses you also cover Lie Algebra however the Kreyszig does not Comment from : Bluecpp |

You are uniquely positioned to make an impact in fields totally outside your own The passion you display, and hyperlinking your ideas so a student can build one concept upon another i think could appeal to researchers in the soft sciences Exposing these modeling ideas to researchers for example in immunology, oncology or cardiovascular research areas may bring fresh insights into their own mechanisms of discovery Comment from : ed leahey |
