This video was a treasure! Thank you for sharing 🤔I would like to see a video about the Princess Dollar and the earlier US dollars ie Flowing bust or bust and anything comparing weight and purity of silver vs Gold You videos are straight to the point, I value your opinions Keep up the great work Comment from : Charles Michael Schmitt |
The Lady Liberty on the St Gaudens is just prettier! The Gold Eagle has a lady that might not turn heads She looks like the lady on the Kitco YouTube channel, which is a little weird He neck is a little too long, her lips a big, her cheek bones are high And her hair is not as fluffy IMHO Comment from : FreddyDaFreeloadah |
My personal preference, I really like the more scuffed worn look of the double eagle than the pristine perfect look of the gold eagle Old just looks better than modern to me even though the obverse is practically the same Comment from : alonedesertwolf |
The gold eagle IS intended for circulation The gold buffalo is the one intended for investment Comment from : Pappa Bear |
I'm late to the party but was wondering what you would do I have an opportunity to trade my 2019 S ASe for the Saint Gaudens gold coin Is the Gaudens better than the eagle? Or would you trade a gold eagle for it if it was offered? Comment from : rAging Gamer |
I have one of 1928, what is th3 Price? Comment from : Elliot Beaurain |
I have two of the St Gaudens gold pieces from 1924 The reverse of the $20 gold piece has been more pleasing to me However, it would be nice to see the modern gold eagle have a larger diameter Comment from : Christopher Berg |
Most people start out buying gold with the double eagle I started out with a sovereign and will try to make my way up to a $3 princess Why that and not a double eagle? Because at the time of the $3 gold coin , a stamp costed ¢3 and for $3, you could buy a whole sheet of stamps Some people call it an “unnecessary denomination” kind of like the two cent, or even the twenty cent, but I’m glad we had those denominations in circulation to show case the day of money worth any face value, including the double eagle The best part though is that a lot of them used real metals like silver for the twenty cent, gold for the $3, and gold for the double eagle 😀 Comment from : Chris Garner |

The St Gaudens double eagle was minted with Roman numerals in 1907 , too They changed it later to Arabic numerals Great job SalbrbrFor me I like the rim of the St Gaudens double eagle more than the todays gold eagle, because of it's stars and lettering on it Comment from : Berlin Berlin TV |

Sal, I LOVE THIS VIDEO Thanks for the comparison Unbelievable that the Double Eagle is priced at "firm $350" at that time you got it! Both are my dream coins I prefer the Double Eagle reverse Eagle in flight to the West over the AGE reverse of a family of eagles Double Eagle is second on my list to purchase for the larger gold coins, primarily for the history behind the gold coin First on my list is, of course, the first year issue of the American Gold Buffalo, and 3rd in my least is the first year issue of the American Gold Eagle Thank you, Sal! This video is educational, as well as it helps maintain my motivation to stay the course in my gold stacking goals Take care, my friend Comment from : Silver Saver |
Considering your 1910 double eagle has a $350 price tag, I assume you bought it many years ago? I wish I can buy a double eagle for that cheap The St Gaudens $20 didn't circulate often Most were stored in European bank vaults for decades That's why so many St Gaudens $20 exist in Mint State condition The Liberty Head $20 circulated more often than the St Gaudens $20 Comment from : MrMonkeySwag96 |
How would you compare US mint gold to others (ie British) in terms of investment? Comment from : jakeizlove |
